less than 3 days…

It looks like its cooling down a bit. I’m hoping the weather holds…

We leave for India in less than 3 days time (if our flight is on time…)

Please pray for us as we wrap up our preparation (out last training/prayer meetings as a team is tonight). Please also continue to pray for us as we pack (for not forgetting anything important and/or not taking anything that would get in the way.)

Thank you for praying earlier for my head cold. While I’m (Doug) still a little congested, the head cold didn’t develop into nearly as bad of a cold as my summer ones usually end up being – truly an act of medical mercy by God, prompted by your faithful prayer!

If anyone has any questions they’d like us to try and answer – or if you’d like to send encouragement our way. Making comments here on the blog will go a long way in that direction. A few of us are taking our mobile devices and we should be able to check the blog from time to time over the days of our trip. We’d love to read your notes of encouragement and prayer along the way…

Test…of capabilities for the blog…

I’m trying to see how much I can do with updating/editing the blog from my iPad. If this works, there’ll be a .PDF file of the gospel in a cube presentation I’m working on (trying to hone as much as I can without losing anything critical to the message…) If it shows up, please take a look and give me any suggestions, comments, questions, etc. – I appreciate the help as I prepare for the trip (less than 2 weeks away now!!!)

Prayer request…

I’m developing either a head cold or sinus infection (neither of which will be much fun to fly to India with). I have an appointment to see the doctor this afternoon. Please pray that this run its course quickly…or that God heal me before the trip…

…while you’re in the praying mood, please go to the prayer request pages and see how you can be praying for the India team (as a group and as individuals).

Thanks!

– Doug

I did a little preparatory shopping this week…

Because we are supposed to be in India during the Monsoon season and I want to take my iPad with me to document the trip (blog updates and photos and such), I picked up a Griffin Survivor Extreme-duty weatherproof case…now I just need to find an extreme-duty weatherproof case for me.

I also picked up a couple of these fellows (see below) so that I can charge my iPad every night and keep it ready for documentary duty while in the villages.

Can you tell I’m getting excited for the adventure ahead?

Team update…

We just completed a yard sale (where I think we made a little over $1,000) for our summer missions trip to India this past Friday and Saturday. Thanks to all those who donated treasures and especially to those who purchased them!

We also just had our second team training meeting and are busy getting ready to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to a part of the world that knows little, if anything, about Him. We’ve also added one member, Bob Burris, and there are now eight on the team.

Check out the pages (listed to the right) where you can find prayer requests of individual team members and the team as a whole, our personal testimonies, and updates about the team in general…click around and explore. If you have any questions or suggestions for things we could add to the site, please feel free to share them here!

Road to India…

As you probably already were saying in your head…that’s NOT the road to India.

But this summer’s TACC India team had its first training meeting this past Sunday and is on the road of planning and training for its trip to India. Please pray that God works in our lives to bring us together as a team; that the Holy Spirit prepares the hearts of the Adivasi we will meet in July; that He will work in our lives – giving us servants’ hearts; and that His will will be done through our efforts – to the glory of His praise.

My plan is to use this blog to keep those of you who may be interested up-to-date, both before and during our trip. If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to post them here.

I hope to get pictures and bios of the team posted in the near future…
